Presentation "Clever classroom"

Late June 2015 The Counseling service on Physical Learning Environment (Rådgivningstjenesten for fysisk læringsmiljø) invited Professor Peter Barrett from the University of Salford, Manchester, to present the result of his study of the impacts of school designs on pupils’ learning (the HEAD Project).

Two videos are available from this presentation.

The report from the research project “Holistic Evidence and Design” on the effects of the physical learning space on student outcomes is available here.

Highlights of the study

  • The study reveals a 16% impact of school design on 3766 pupils' learning rates.
  • An Environment-behaviour factors model is strongly validated.
  • 10 environmental factors of the classroom and 5 non-e factors are analysed.
  • The study uses multilevel statistical modelling for the nested situation.
